CANAL SHORES’ DOG POLICY
Canal Shores welcomes dog walkers with their dogs on the periphery, not the tee boxes, fairways, sand traps or greens, of the golf course as long as they are courteous, aware of golfers, and give golfers the right of way.
Dog walkers, knowing the hazards golf balls present, must take precautions to guard themselves from golf balls and stay clear of golfers at play. Dog walkers assume the risk of use when golfers are at play.
We cannot tolerate dogs running off leash that inhibit our staff working on the course or interfere with the use of our equipment on the course. Nor can we have dogs running off leash and interfering with our golfers.
Saturday, Sunday and Holiday mornings are particularly busy times on the golf course during the golf season, April through October. Dog walkers should consider minimizing their time on or avoiding the course during those periods.
Dog walkers also must comport themselves in accordance with Canal Shores’ Code of Conduct linked here.
Any dog walkers who do not comply with this policy will be required to leave the course, and repeated failures to comply will result in the dog walker and his/her dog(s) being permanently banned from the course and Animal Control being contacted regarding the situation.
Dog walkers should be aware municipal ordinances (City Code 9-4-7 and Village Code 4-139 (10)) state that all dogs must be leashed when out in the public. Dog walkers must clean up after their dogs (City Code 9-4-12 & Village Code 4-139(4)). Canal Shores has placed doggie poop bags dispensers and trash receptacles throughout the course to assist dog walkers in complying with this requirement.
